Independent Living Skills is Smart Horizons’ answer to the question of how to teach and track records for populations of teens and adults in transitional life situations. The curriculum consists of 139 lessons within 5 catalogs: Health/Leisure, Financial Management, Relationships, Life Skills, and Career/School. The lessons are presented in a variety of formats, including interactive courseware, videos, and PDFs and are aligned to industry standard assessment tools for independent living skills.

Housed in our secure online learning management system, the Independent Living Skills program offers the flexibility and portability necessary for learners in transitional situations. School Training Solutions is a diverse offering of online driver and in-service training. Our programs can also be tailored to fit your state's requirements. Two Products, Endless Possibilities

School Training Solutions training can be purchased in two ways - through a yearly subscription or through your own branded portal. The yearly subscription is ideal for small groups and individuals while the portal is aimed at larger groups who need to train several drivers. All School Training Solutions training products award IACET recognized CEUs (Continuing Education Units).

Certified Protection Officer

Smart Horizons is proud to offer the Certified Protection Officer (CPO) 8th Edition course and exam online. The CPO 8th Edition program provides self-paced online training for today’s busy lifestyles by offering 24 hours a day 7 days a week access to training. The CPO 8th Edition provides modern, up-to-date training that improves protection officers’ skills and enhances their efficiency and safety.

Positions are also set to grow in the U.S., with 175,000 new security officer jobs expected before 2016. In recent years, due to eminent threats of terrorism, most security officers are required to have bomb-threat education and/or emergency crisis security training, especially those located in soft target areas such as shopping malls, schools, and any other area where the public assemble.

This highly interactive course includes 12 units covering 45 chapters. Each chapter provides interactive activities, knowledge checks, and an end-of-chapter test. Our delivery system tracks student achievements and maintains data necessary to provide seamless continuation of learning. This course will fully prepare candidates for the International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO) certification CPO Final Exam that is included in the price of the course. All course materials will remain available for student review during his/her subscription period.

HITS Telecommunicator Online Training

Smart Horizons HITS Institute provides a complete line of interactive computer and web based training products for educating and training public safety, security, law enforcement, and first responder professionals. Working with subject matter experts, we analyze industry training needs and build curriculum focused on certification requirements. Courses are designed to support the career development requirements of public safety professionals.

Smart Horizons Career Online High School offers career-credentialed certificates programs for several in-demand careers, such as Healthcare, Early Childhood Education, Transportation Services, Criminal Justice, Office Management, and Homeland Security. All students graduate with both a high school diploma and coursework toward earning a career-credentialed certificate in one of these areas. Employee performance evaluations are often tedious and time consuming. The APCO Expectations Evaluation Software electronically manages evaluations and daily observation reports (DORs), reducing the repetitive task of keeping evaluations up-to-date.
