Job Description
Assess target audience's learning needs to identify knowledge and skill gaps, then develop training plans to close the gaps; interview SMEs to define and structure instructional materials; conduct research to obtain or complete lesson content; research, design, and produce appropriate instructional materials; work closely with graphic artists, instructional developers, and support personnel during the development process; review lesson content and assessment items to ensure alignment with learning objectives; conduct post-instruction outcome evaluations to measure training effectiveness

Responsibilities
  • Gather and analyze lesson content from Subject Matter Experts or customer
  • Develop a basic understanding of subject matter through materials provided and individual research
  • Define learning objectives and identify appropriate instructional strategies
  • Design and develop instructional materials that enable learners to achieve desired learning outcomes
  • Review course materials to confirm that learning objectives, content, and assessment items align
  • Evaluate and assess instruction and its effectiveness
  • Modify instructional materials as indicated by review and evaluation results
  • Prepare recommendations for future enhancements/updates
  • Perform other job-related duties as required

  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design principles
  • Knowledge of editorial requirements, including grammar and punctuation

  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) to develop professional-quality instructional materials

  • Ability to design and develop training in a systematic manner
  • Ability to communicate with others in a warm and helpful manner while simultaneously building credibility, trust, and rapport
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize to meet deadlines
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, detail-oriented work environment
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Instructional Design or related field (training development, curriculum development, education, instructional technology) from an accredited university or college
  • 5+ years of professional experience developing training materials for adult learners
